How do I apply

STEP 1:

Fill in a visa application form online at www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk  (Please consult the Guidance notes ).

STEP 2:

Come to the Visa Section of the British Embassy in Dakar at the time you requested when you made your online application.

You will need:

·   a printed visa application form completed online, in full and in English

·   your passport or travel document

·   two recent, passport-sized (45mm x 35mm), colour photographs of yourself. These should be:

§  taken against a light coloured background

§  clear and of good quality and not framed or backed

§  printed on normal photographic paper

§  full face without sunglasses, hat or other head covering unless you wear this for cultural or religious reasons

·   the visa fee in local currency.

·   any supporting documents relevant to your application as suggested in the Frequently Asked Questions plus one photocopy of each original document that you would like to be returned to you.

If you are applying for a visa for a Commonwealth country or an Overseas Territory, you may send a representative to the Visa Section to submit your application on your behalf.

If it is easier for you, you can apply for a UK visa at the British High Commission in Banjul where you do not have to apply online.  Please see the British High Commission  WWW.UKINGAMBIA.FCO.GOV.UK  in Banjul website for further information on how to apply there.

What happens once I have submitted my application?

Please note:

• you will not be permitted to submit your application unless your visa application form has been completed in advance, on line, in full and in English
• we can only return original documents (such as payslips and birth certificates) if a photocopy of each document is submitted with the application
• applications in which false representations are made or where false documents are submitted will be refused.

If you have a disability, please ask to speak to the Head Guard who will help you.
